The European Commission has reminded Thailand exporters to cancel the preferential treatment of the EU's GSP system since January 1, 2015.

Therefore, the products exported to the EU at the end of this year must be certified by the origin and other documents before December 31, 2014 and pass customs inspection procedures, otherwise they will no longer enjoy the EU GSP treatment.

In fact, the EU has already begun to consider reducing the number of countries giving GPS (GSP) to 176 from 80.

In early 2014, 50 of the goods exported to Europe in Thailand would lose the GPS treatment, while the 723 commodities would face the same problem in 2015.

These commodities include footwear, clothing, plastic products, seafood, tropical fruits, bicycles, palm oil and rubber.

The EU will continue its FTA talks with Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia later.

Thailand hopes to open and complete the FTA negotiations with the EU as soon as possible, and hopes that the EU will reach a conclusion.
